Ten departments working collaboratively to advance student advocacy at UC Berkeley. Each department is led by an Executive Director and supported by dedicated associates.

Chief of Staff Office

Internal operations, coordination, and leadership pipeline.

Chief of Staff Interns are vital members of the office's leadership pipeline. They support the two Chiefs of Staff in ensuring smooth internal operations, coordinating office-wide communication, and tracking the progress of departmental projects.

Chief of Staff Intern (2 Positions)

4–6 hours/week

Qualifications

Policy, Advocacy & Engagement

Legislative strategy meets campus organizing.

This team works at the intersection of research, advocacy, and community engagement β€” drafting ASUC resolutions, building student-led campaigns, and organizing events like teach-ins, town halls, and storytelling panels.

Executive Director

Qualifications

  • β€”Plan community-centered events like policy teach-ins, town halls, student panels
  • β€”Collaborate with other ASUC Senators, RSOs, and admin offices
  • β€”Maintain the department's calendar and project deadlines

Student Safety & Wellness

Safer, healthier, and more informed campus communities.

This department works on issues such as SVSH prevention, mental health access, Narcan training, and peer safety education β€” often partnering with PATH to Care, Bears That Care, and campus wellness coalitions.

Executive Director

Qualifications

  • β€”Passion for student wellness, harm reduction, or SVSH prevention
  • β€”Experience in peer education, programming, or trauma-informed organizing (preferred)
  • β€”Comfortable managing sensitive topics with discretion and empathy

Responsibilities

  • β€”Coordinate collaborations with PATH to Care, UHS, and wellness orgs
  • β€”Develop educational initiatives on harm reduction, safety, and self-care
  • β€”Plan wellness campaigns and trainings (Narcan distribution, SVSH workshops)

Associates (3–4 Positions)

International Student Advocacy

Uplifting and empowering international Bears.

This team leads advocacy on visa access, CPT/OPT policy, financial equity, and post-grad planning, while also hosting events to build community and share student stories.

Executive Director

Qualifications

Ensuring every student can meet their fundamental needs.

From organizing housing guides and mutual aid efforts to advocating for systemic change, the department plays a key role in supporting first-gen, low-income, and housing-insecure students across campus.

This team creates and curates content that tells the story of the office's work, shares resources with students, and promotes events, initiatives, and advocacy efforts.
